Overpass bridge on the Baikal highway The overpass bridge over the East-Siberian Railway is located at the 74th kilometer PK 18 + 20 of the M-55 Baikal highway connecting Irkutsk, Ulan-Ude and Chita, and at the 5,262nd kilometer PK8 of the Glubokaya – Andrianovskaya railway section.
Work started: August 2006; To be completed: October 2008.
Overpass bridge configuration: 24.0+33.0+24.0 m, length – 89.5 m. Road width: 12.3 m with sidewalks 2õ0.75 m.
The overpass bridge rests on arched abutments on top of a monolith foundation. Support stands are rectangular, 0.8 x 0.5 m and 7.0 and 6.0 m long. Interim supports are poles on foundations made of the assembled blocks. Support stands have a diameter of 0.8 meters and 12 meters long.
The span structures of 24 and 33 meters in length, made of reinforced concrete H-beams with pre-stressed rods.
The road has a two-layer asphalt and concrete pavement 60 and 55 mm thick, respectively. To prolong the life of the pavement and raise its resistance to cyclical temperature impacts, the asphalt reinforcement with Glasstex P100 geosynthetical materials is used.
Construction work is carried out near a functioning railway. Installation of the beam decking L = 33.0 m were assembled during 7 “windows” with the train traffic interruption and the fully disassembled contact network.
