Reconstruction of the old Kiparisovsky Tunnel is carried out at the 9,236th kilometer of the Ussuriysk – Vladivostok section of the Far Eastern Railway.
Work started in November 2013; work to be completed in November 2014.
The tunnel is 944.3 meters long.
The reconstruction project includes conversion of the tunnel, which was built in 1914-1916, from the double-track tunnel to a single-track tunnel. The reconstructed tunnel will carry the odd-numbered track.
Scope of Operations:
Rework of the tunnel foundation and installation of the tunnel lining to the railway structure clearances C;
Putting in place waterproofing and a drainage system behind the tunnel lining along the entire length of the tunnel;
New continuous welded rail track on stone bedding;
Rework of the approaches to the tunnel;
Replacement of the drainage systems in the excavation base and over the tunnel;
Putting in place the contact network and signaling, power supply, and communication systems.
