Tunnel construction / Krolsky railway tunnel
Construction of the new Krolsky tunnel on the Abakan – Taishet section of the Krasnoyarsk railway. Length of the tunnel – 2253.6 m. Scope of work: construction of a new tunnel parallel to the existing one on the high side at a distance of 36 m. Tunnel excavation is performed by means of a LOVAT RME-375 SE, D=9.5 m mechanized shield complex with an earth pressure system. The new Krolsky Tunnel became the first railroad tunnel in Russia to be excavated by means of a mechanized tunnel-boring complex. Completion of construction – 2010.
