Tunnel System No.1 on Adler - "Alpika-Service" Mountain Resort Route

The tunnel system number one was built near the town of Akhshtyr, Adler District of Sochi (15 to 18 km marks of the Olympic route).

The construction began in the 1st quarter of 2009 and completed in 2013.

The tunnel system consists of a railway tunnel (2,536 m), a gallery (2,366 m), and a motorway tunnel (2,298 m).

Mining machines were used to drive the motorway and railway tunnels and 5.6-meter diameter Lovat RME 232 SE tunnel boring machine was used to drive the gallery.

The gallery driving was completed in May 2010, the motorway tunnel boring was completed in April 2011, the railway tunnel boring was completed in May 2011.
