Construction of Two Khoroshevskoe Shosse Overpasses and Two Passenger Platforms at the 44th Kilometer of the Moscow Railway Inner Belt

Work started: April 2013, work to be completed: December 2014.

Main track I overpass design: 43.5 + 33.7 + 23.7 m. The total length is of 101 meters. All-steel continuous box girder ballasted lower-deck span structures. The span decks are supported by an orthotropic slab formed by deck plates resting on two main girders, which are tied up by strip ribs and crossbeams. The overpass pillars are of cast-in-place reinforced concrete with 1.2-meter diameter drilled pile footings.

A main track I passenger platform has the pedestrian part that is 8 meters wide. The platform design: 43.5 + 33.9 + 22.8 m. The total length is of 101 meters. The platform is composed of a steel box-shaped structure and a cast-in-place walking slab on top, which are tied up using Nelson flexible studs. A 1.5-meter wide overhang running along the track is made of easily removable steel panels coated with an anti-slip composition.

The passenger platform for main tracks II and III has the pedestrian part that is 6 meters wide. The platform design: 43.5 + 34.5 + 20.4 m. The total length is of 100 meters. The platform is composed of a steel box-shaped structure and a cast-in-place walking slab on top, which are tied up using Nelson flexible studs. A 1.5-meter wide overhang running along the track is made of easily removable steel panels coated with an anti-slip composition.

The construction project is part of the program "Reconstruction and Development of the Moscow Railway Inner Belt."

Scope of Operations:

  • removal of the old span structures and abutments of two main tracks I, II, III Khoroshevskoe Shosse overpasses;
  • building a single-track three-span Khoroshevskoe Shosse Overpass for main track I by launching the span structures;
  • building a double-track three-span Khoroshevskoe Shosse overpass for main tracks II and III by launching the span structures;
  • building a main track I passenger platform by launching and by putting in place the top pedestrian slab of cast-in-place concrete;
  • building main tracks II and II passenger platform by launching and by putting in place the top pedestrian slab of cast-in-place concrete.

The Bauer BG-14 Rig was used for building the drilled piles. The RDK-25 Lifting Crane was used to handle casing pipes, reinforcing cages, and cast concrete pipes. The KS-4572 Lifting Crane was used to handle components during installation. Three GD-170/1120 Jacks were used for launching.

The overpasses will ensure uninterrupted rail traffic along the Moscow Railway Inner Belt.
