Tkatskaya Street Overpasses in Moscow
Railway construction / Tkatskaya Street Overpasses in Moscow

Construction of two Tkatskaya Street Overpasses at the 16th Kilometer of the Moscow Railway Inner Belt

Work started: April 2013, work to be completed: November 2014.

Main tracks I and II overpass design: 1x82 m. The total length is of 102 meters. All-steel arch ballasted span structures, each composed of two box structural members tied up by braces, rest on an orthotropic slab supported by two main girders. Cast-in-place non-backfilled reinforced concrete overpass abutments have 1.2-meter diameter drilled pile footings.

Main track III overpass design: 1x70 m. The total length is of 90.4 meters. All-steel arch ballasted span structures, each composed of two box structural members tied up by braces, rest on an orthotropic slab supported by two main girders. Cast-in-place non-backfilled reinforced concrete overpass abutments have 1.2-meter diameter drilled pile footings.

The construction project is part of the program "Reconstruction and Development of the Moscow Railway Inner Belt."

Scope of Operations:

  • removal of the old span structures and the tops of the pillars of main track III overpass across Tkatskaya Street;
  • removal of the old span structures and the tops of the pillars of main track III overpass across Tkatskaya Street;
  • building a double-track single-span main tracks I and II overpass across Tkatskaya Street by first sliding the span structure transversally and then by launching.
  • building a single-span single-track main track III overpass across Tkatskaya Street by first sliding the span structure transversally and then by launching.

The Bauer BG-14 Rig was used for building the drilled piles. The Hitachi KH-180 Lifting Crane was used for handling casing pipes, reinforcing cages, and cast concrete pipes. The RDK-400 Lifting Crane was used for assembling a stiffening girder and for installation of the arch components. The KS-4572 Lifting Crane was used to move the components to the building slip. The DG-100 and DG-165/1800 Jacks were used for launching.

Overpasses will ensure uninterrupted rail traffic along the Moscow Railway Inner Belt.
