Railway bridge across the Volga River (Ulyanovsk)

The bridge is at the 896^th kilometer of the Inza – Chishmy line of the Kuibyshev Railway.
The construction started: December 2001; To be completed: November 2008.

The bridge configuration is 60.0+55.0+12х158.48+60.0 meters. The span structures over banks, L = 60.0 m, are the metal deck spans. The remaining span structures are metal though spans with the tracks over the reinforced concrete slabs.

The project involves replacing all the span structures, repairing the supports and abutments using the above-water and underwater injection technique and installing a reinforcing ferroconcrete jacket. The 60-meter span structure over the bank from the side of Ulyanovsk was installed on temporary supports using the transverse sliding method. The other 60-meter span structure was replaced with a new one using a floating crane. The remaining spans were installed using a floating system.

Vibrating pile drivers and Junttan PM 26 LC drilling assemblies were used to install sheeting and temporary supports. The assembly and erection of the span structures were performed using КАТО – 500, HITACHI KH500L-PD, GROVE, LIEBHERR-LTM 1250/1 high-payload cranes, as well as a Moguchiy floating crane.

The bridge reconstruction was carried out under conditions of the heavy train traffic.
