Russian Prime Minister Stays Up to Date on the Construction of Bridge over the Staraya Pregolya and Novaya Pregolya Rivers in Kaliningrad. November 07, 2011

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has reviewed construction of the bridge over the Staraya Pregolya and Novaya Pregolya Rivers in Kaliningrad. At the meeting, the builders and designers have told the Prime Minister that it is necessary to broaden the streets near the bridge and to build new interchanges.

The bridge over the Staraya Pregolya and Novaya Pregolya Rivers is one of the most important transportation projects in Kaliningrad. It will significantly reduce traffic jams because the time it will take to get from one end of the city to the other will be cut down from 30 minutes to 4-5 minutes.

As Vladimir Putin has said, Everything has been done with high quality and looks nice. I hope," the premier added, that everything will come out fine.

The project designers drew premiers attention to the fact that the bridge has been designed back in Soviet time and, as a result, the design did not reflect the recent changes that took place in Kaliningrad as it is today.

The bridge must be integrated with the city transportation infrastructure and the adjoining streets have to be made broader in order to rule out a bottleneck around the bridge, explained the builders.

The premier listened to the arguments presented by the professionals and promised that the traffic network around the bridge will be improved.
